Rexnord, the manufacturer of Falk gears and other industrial power transmission equipment, received a visit from U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gary Locke this month.
Locke stopped by the Menomonee Valley plant for a tour while in town to give a speech to the Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce. During his speech, he said, “I loved getting down there and touching those (Falk) gears,” the Milwaukee Business Journal reported.
He also praised Rexnord as “innovative” for its ability to tap into global markets.
“And its products are made in the United States. That’s what we like to see,” he added.
Falk gears and gearbox components have been a part of the industrial landscape since the 1800s, when mechanic Herman Falk began producing wagon axles. He went on to work with electric street railways and later opened gear shops. The brand eventually went global and became a subsidiary of Rexnord in 2005.
